Washington, D.C. Youth Tour
Cooperative Youth Tour
Every year, Craighead Electric chooses two deserving local Juniors to act as representatives in the Electric Cooperative youth tour to Washington D.C.
The trip, sponsored by the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas, typically includes tours of all the major sites in Washington such as Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home, the museums of the Smithsonian Institution, the Jefferson, Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., Vietnam, Korean and World War II memorials.
Due to the national health emergency, the 2021 Youth Tour will be a virtual experience hosted via Zoom.
Each spring, Craighead Electric Cooperative selects two high school juniors to attend the tour. The winners are selected through an application and interview process. Winners go on to become eligible for the Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Youth Tour Scholarship that is awarded to one student each year.
Why do we do this? The answer is simple. Craighead Electric Cooperative is committed to its members and to the communities it serves. Through the Youth Tour, we are helping Arkansas’ youth learn more about the workings of their nation’s government and the electric cooperatives, as well as develop leadership skills.
If you know a high school junior, whose parents are members of Craighead Electric, encourage them to apply for this all-expense-paid tour of our nation’s capital. Applicants must be high school juniors and their parents/ guardians must be members of Craighead Electric Cooperative.
Send your completed application to email@example.com by the deadline to be considered. The application is made available in January each year on this page.
